Met briefly with Ed, the IT guy from the school who was there to meet with Tim Dey.
While we were waiting for Tim, I showed Ed a gotomeeting session test from the observatory. I can actually login and watch the webcam from the obsservatory test session on mh iPad 3G.
I took a random screen shot of this session on the iPad and posted it.
We did a short test of the audio feature. The audio feed didn't work very well inside the goto meeting session. Perhaps a configuration problem. Or it could be something in our hardware setup. Gotomeeting has troubles at times with streaming audio. We might be better off using skyp, but I don't know how well that will work either.
We need to do some more tests.
We may also test or setup a phone line using Magic Jack for a phone line At the observatory. There are a lot of options to explore. They are going to be working on improving the wifi link capability for visiting laptops at the observatory as well. There's some connection problems at times. There are a number of different approaches we may have to get things working better.
Dr Dey also wants to be able to hook up his laptop to the losmandy mount and the Internet as well. Well be testing that setup as well.
I may edit and rotate the picture on this blog post later.
Added to blog for Astronomy
I'm a member of the FAAC Astronomy Club. We provide technical aid for the Hector J Robinson Observatory in Lincoln Park Michigan.
The original observatory was refurbished in 2009 thanks to the help of Dr. Timothy Dey who had a vision to reopen and fix up the observatory and Leo McMaster who is a middle school teacher at the middle school. We have new equipment installed at the observatory thanks to a grant from Toshiba and more info can be found here an on other sites on the net.
STUDYING DECAY PROFILE I'm just a guy with a little digital camera. Taking a few quick photos once in a while. I work in Detroit, live near Detroit. Detroit area, easy to slam I suppose. I'm focusing on decay, but not trying to make this a Detroit is all bad blog. However there's a heck of a lot that is messed up in Detroit. So most like to get out and never look back. Those who stay or try to help, are faced with huge and often overwhelming problems. Massive growth and now massive decline followed with a lot of crime and poverty.

Yikes a few minor typos from the iPad touch screen. I'm probably better off typing very slowly.
