I've been busy doing work on a video kiosk and the poor weather and short viewing opportunities I've taken over the holidays didn't merit announcing the observatory as being open. A couple of times in late December I opened up HJRO for a few hours. Both times I thought I'd be open for maybe two hours and with cold weather focused on trying to get some test video clips of Jupiter. A few Faac members were notified that I'd be opening up HJRO, but mist of them seem to want to focus on going to a dark sky site or stay out of e cold weather. I felt that I didn't want to stay inside for maybe four or five hours in hopes a single visitor would show up in the cold, so I didn't make a blog announcement.
Also I've been a bit under the weather. I've enjoyed reading a bit about astronomy news and actually have been meaning to pick up e latest sky and telescope issue as they have good articles on astrophotography with video cameras. With all kinds of issues with the cold weather and other things to do, I haven't been planning any long cold observing sessions.
There will be an observing session this weekend at lake erie metro park by the marshlands museum there, if it's clear out Saturday night. They will have winter activities and presentations there as well. Normal park charges apply to visitors. The club will be there and I expect to be at the metro park. I likely won't be at the observatory next Saturday due to this event, even if it's clear out.
